Our History

Versa’s story began with the humble work of welcoming intrepid travellers to remote island shores. Across decades, that beginning has grown into a way of hosting shaped by island knowledge, generous hospitality and a spirit that remains uniquely Maldivian.
1972
THE FIRST RESORT
The launch of Kurumba marked the birth of modern island tourism. Now part of the Niva family, this legendary property laid the foundation for our unforced style of hospitality.
1973
ISLAND-LED DESIGN
The unveiling of Baros Maldives established our signature approach to architecture. This milestone proved that premium sanctuaries could frame the natural landscape while celebrating authentic local materials and craftsmanship.
1975
GROWING WITH CARE
With the launch of Kuramathi, we introduced large-scale island hospitality to the archipelago. This sprawling destination blended diverse natural settings with proactive ecological preservation, pioneering how we look after fragile environments.
2004
PURE EXPERIENTIAL INDULGENCE
Welcoming Huvafen Fushi to the portfolio completely elevated modern luxury expectations. By creating the world’s first underwater treatment spaces, we showcased a fearless dedication to revealing unforgettable dimensions of the landscape.
